Leesburg Wedding and Reception Location Northern Virginia 48 Fields
It was just over a year ago when Steve and I first stepped onto the farm with our real estate agent, Marcy. It was by far the biggest and most extensive property we had seen. It was also one of the oldest and one of the most overgrown. Despite all that I instantly saw the possibilities. As a photographer, it didn’t take long before I started looking at things the way I would scout a location.
The rustic wood. The green trees. The tall grasses. Just the texture of it all. I could envision that one day photographers would come to the farm and see the same possibilities.
With all our renovations, I figured those days would be much further off into the future. So, much to my surprise, I was thrilled to get a call from fellow photographer, Stephanie Messick. She had an engagement session with Hayley and Chris in Leesburg and was looking for open fields. Stephanie and I had met late last year at a photography meeting when I first publically announced that buying a farm would actually happen. Stephanie remembered me talking about it, and I’m so flattered that she reached out because of it.
What Stephanie doesn’t know is that the day she called was pretty much a bummer of a day for me. Things weren’t going well, I was frustrated with so much, and feeling like I just wasn’t being or doing enough in just about every area of my life. When it came to the farm, I was only seeing how much there was to do and how delayed things were becoming. My dreams felt so much further than ever before. But her call? Honestly, it completely changed my mood. Because it was happening. She was going to make it happen. The first photo shoot at 48 Fields! It couldn’t have been better timed for me, and deep down I kept hoping that things wouldn’t fall through at the last minute.
The grass wasn’t green. The leaves weren’t on the trees yet. But the fields were wide open, glowed golden in the setting sun, and gave them all they needed. Stephanie, Hayley, and Chris – thank you so much for being our inaugural photo shoot. I’m thrilled to share these first images, and I hope to have you back again soon.
