How to Choose Great Wedding Vendors

Wedding planning can be stressful, but choosing your vendors doesn’t have to be. Find out how to choose the right wedding vendors to make your vision a reality!

Your wedding planning to-do list is long, from choosing a date to deciding how you want your wedding to look and feel. There are wedding vendors for every style, price point, and personality. You could spend weeks reviewing every option in the area. Here are a few tips to help you select proven professionals who will make sure your wedding day goes off without a hitch.

Considering that each wedding typically involves with anywhere from 5-15 vendors on for given celebration, wedding venues see a lot! It’s safe to say that any well established wedding venue has worked with hundreds of vendors. They will know the best wedding planners, caterers, florists, photographers, DJs, rental companies, calligraphers, transportation, hair and make up, and more! Great vendors make weddings run smoother for everyone involved, so therefore most venues have preferred vendors they recommend and are more than happy to help you choose vendors they know will do a great job.

Why should you choose vendors that are trusted partners of your venue? Your wedding vendors work together as a team throughout your wedding day. The vendors we recommend are our favorite teammates. They are top-notch professionals who have worked at the venue before, work well with other vendors, have proven themselves to be reliable experts over many events, and simply provide excellent service. Many couples assume that any vendor can provide the service they envision in their heads, but not every vendor can deliver excellence.

When your vendors are doing their jobs well, you’ll hardly even notice as they solve problems before you hear about them, coordinate amongst themselves, and keep everyone happy and everything moving smoothly.

Just as important as recommended vendors, your venue will also know which vendors NOT to use. We’ve seen vendors arrive late, be unprepared or unprofessional, or simply lack the experience needed to make your wedding day go smoothly. If you plan to book a vendor who isn’t on the preferred vendor list, ask your venue if they have experience with that vendor. They may have been left off the list for a reason.

If your venue is not familiar with the vendor, make sure you get other recommendations and speak to past clients before booking them. Make sure your vendors are experienced and have all the relevant licenses and insurance. A newer or unfamiliar vendor might be great, but we can’t vouch for the quality of their work, so always think carefully before booking them.

And, as the saying goes, it is very often the case that you get what you pay for.
