7 Things Not to Do the Week Before Your Wedding

Your wedding is coming up fast. Wondering what to do the week before your wedding and what not to do? Save yourself from stress and embarrassing wedding photos by following our list of things NOT to do the week before your wedding.

1. DON’T GO TO THE BEACH

The week before your wedding is a terrible time to get a sunburn. In fact, if you’re spending any time in the sun the week before your wedding, be super diligent with sunscreen! This goes for your wedding party as well. We’ve seen burnt faces and funky sunburn lines – probably not the look you want captured in your wedding photos.

2. DON’T LEAVE WEDDING PREP TO THE LAST MINUTE

There’s a lot to do to get ready for your wedding day. Save yourself from stress by making your packing list a few weeks before your wedding, and checking that you have what you need. This will help avoid the last-minute scramble of Amazon orders and trips to the drug store in the days before your wedding.

And make sure to check our list of 25 things brides forget on their wedding day so you don’t miss these commonly overlooked items!

3. DON’T GET A HAIRCUT

We’ve all been there. You got a bad haircut right before school picture day and had to live with those photos for the next year. Now imagine instead of school picture day, it’s your wedding day. And instead of one photo, you’re in hundreds, with your bad haircut captured from every angle.

Avoid the trauma. Don’t get your hair cut the week before your wedding. If you have short hair, consider getting a haircut around 10 days before the wedding so it looks neat but still natural.

4. DON’T TRY ANY NEW BEAUTY REGIMENS

The week before your wedding is not the time to try tanning, waxing, threading, or any other beauty treatment for the first time. The last thing you want on your wedding day is to be orange or inflamed.

5. DON’T START ANY DIY WEDDING PROJECTS

Maybe you had ambitious ideas of building your own sweetheart table for your sweetheart, or folding 1,000 paper cranes to stun your guests. But if it’s not done by the week before the wedding, it’s time to let it go. The week before the wedding should be reserved for must-haves.

6. DON’T HAVE YOUR BACHELOR OR BACHELORETTE PARTY

It may seem convenient to have your bachelor and bachelorette parties when everyone is in town for the wedding. However, a hangover and last-minute wedding logistics don’t mix. Unless you’re keeping things low key, we recommend separating the parties and the wedding by at least a few weeks.

7. DON’T DO ANY DANGEROUS SPORTS

Unless you want to be in a cast at the altar (yes, it happens!), don’t go snowboarding or do anything else that might result in broken bones or other injuries in the weeks before your wedding.

While it may seem like a downer to list all the things you shouldn’t do, these “don’ts” are all for the sake of a much better “do”! Do have fun at your wedding, enjoy it because you’re not overstressed or exhausted, and have beautiful wedding photos of you and your new spouse looking your very best!
