Looking for tips for fall wedding planning in Northern Virginia? As a Virginia wedding venue, we know the fantastic and challenging things about hosting a successful fall wedding. To help you avoid common pitfalls and take full advantage of the season, we’ve put together a list of our top tips to plan the perfect fall wedding!
BOOK EARLY OR BE FLEXIBLE
Gorgeous fall weather means that September and October are some of the most popular times to get married in Northern Virginia. If you’ve got your heart set on a fall wedding, you’ll need to book your venue and in-demand vendors ASAP. To help you prioritize, check out our list of the wedding vendors you should book first. Alternatively, you could get married later in the season for less competition, or consider a Friday or Sunday wedding.
PREPARE FOR ANY WEATHER
Temperatures in October can be 40°, 80°, or anywhere in between. If you’re planning a fall wedding, keep an eye on the forecast. You may want to provide fans for hot weather or hand warmers if things get chilly. Especially once the sun goes down. But don’t worry too much; no matter the weather, our indoor ceremony space offers a beautiful rain plan.
KNOW WHEN THE SUN WILL SET
When planning your fall wedding day, make sure to take full advantage of the shortening daylight hours. An evening wedding may be a great idea in early September, but it may be dark and chilly at that same time in November! Also bear in mind that here at 48 Fields, the “golden hour” for photos is about an hour before the actual sunset time. Read this blog post for more timeline tips for weddings at 48 Fields.
CAPTURE THE FOLIAGE
Peak fall foliage timing in Northern Virginia varies from year to year based on weather, but is typically in mid to late October. Even early November is generally still colorful. If you’re getting married around this time, be sure to take advantage of our 48 acres of beautiful foliage for those gorgeous fall hues!
EMBRACE THE SEASON
The fall is a beautiful time to get married in Northern Virginia! We just love it when our couples bring the fall vibes to their wedding day. Whether that’s through a rich fall color palette, warm wraps, or cozy details like a s’mores bar, nothing beats a fall wedding!
BONUS TIP: SIP SOME CIDER
We may be biased, but we believe no fall gathering is complete without some hard cider! Whether you enjoy still or sparkling, traditional single-varietals or modern seasonal flavors, we hand-craft own own Virginia grown ciders that are ready to impress.
