Lauren and Jake’s modern barn wedding in Northern Virginia began and ended with family. Like many couples, Lauren and Jake’s wedding was unfortunately postponed due to COVID. Fortunately, the later date made it possible for many out of town guests and family from Mississippi to attend.
This long-awaited wedding day began with Lauren and Jake getting ready in the wedding suites in the farm house. Then Lauren had two very special first looks. First with her father, then with her two sons.
THE CEREMONY
Lauren and Jake saw each other for the first time at their outdoor ceremony on our ceremony patio. A wood arbor formed their ceremony backdrop. And decorating the arbor, flowing white fabric and large floral arrangements framed the happy couple.
Lauren’s sons led the way down the aisle, one carrying the rings and the other a sign that said “Mr. Jake, wait til you see Mommy!”
Then out walked Lauren, stunning in an A-line wedding dress with off-the shoulder lace straps. To complete the look, she carried a beautiful bouquet of white and muted green, pink, and orange. Beside her, six bridesmaids in long, peachy pink dresses held matching bouquets.
Jake and his groomsmen stood opposite them in dark tuxedos with satin lapel detailing. To tie into the color scheme, Jake’s tie and the groomsmen’s pocket squares introduced subtle pops of pink.
The ceremony was a beautiful celebration of the couple’s love. Lauren’s sons joined them during the ceremony for a prayer for the family as they begin their new life together.
THE CELEBRATION
After the ceremony, Lauren and Jake took their first portraits as a married couple before joining their guests for the reception. They explored the property, taking photos on the swing and the barn steps. Be sure not to miss their dramatic portraits in front of the barn with a backdrop of stormy summer skies.
The couple’s reception in the dairy barn was the picture of casual elegance. Their soft color palette brought a modern flair to the rustic elegant space and their love brightened every corner.
After the traditional first dances, the couple cut their adorable bundt wedding cake, and then the fun really began! They danced the evening away with their friends and family, with guests of all ages taking a turn on the dance floor!
It was our pleasure to host Lauren and Jake’s family-centered modern barn wedding here at 48 Fields! We wish this new family all the happiness in the world.
