After living in Africa for a few years, Nadine and Sam moved back to DC just weeks before their wedding! Guests from all around the world joined them to celebrate as they joined their Polish and Persian heritages together in an internationally-inspired wedding last fall.
The ceremony featured a traditional sofreyeh aghd full of symbolic decorations along with a Persian unity ritual with the exchange of honey, symbolizing the sweetness and sustenance you will give each other throughout your lives.
During the reception, Nadine’s parents offered a traditional Polish bread and salt blessing while Sam’s parents offered a toast with a surprise twist. With two clear glasses, one person gets water and the other gets vodka. It’s said that whoever gets the vodka wears the pants in the marriage!
